It has been a super busy week in Team Topaz!
We have been doing lots of writing! We have written a biography about Mr Hall who was once a professional footballer. We found out about his life and and wrote using all of the Year 6 assessment criteria. Now we have started work on a non-chronological report about a rainforest creature that we have created.
This week, we took part in an amazing Mayan workshop where we got to dress up as a Mayan, play Mayan musical instruments and looked at Mayan artefacts. We found out that about the Mayan calendar, what sports they played and that they invented the rubber ball!
In PSHE we thought about self-image and how looking comparing ourselves to 'beautiful' people can be a negative thing. In RE, we compared religious stories, for example the 'Monkey King' which is a Buddhist story and the 'Lost Sheep' parable from the bible. We thought about the messages the stories give and what believers learn from them.
Next week, we will be writing our creature reports and starting work on a formal letter as well as carrying on with our other subjects across the curriculum.
Year 6 PE Days are Monday and Thursday
Please come to school in PE kit on these days
