Learning and Achieving Together
'Learning and Achieving Together'
'Mathematics is a creative and highly inter-connected discipline. It is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. A high quality mathematics education therefore provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically, an appreciation of the beauty and power of mathematics, and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject.'
Maths at Hobletts Manor Junior School
At Hobletts Manor Junior School we encourage a love and enthusiasm for numbers! We learn about the properties of numbers and strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We learn to understand what fractions, decimals and percentages are and how to represent them in different ways. We learn how to measure with different units and the special properties of 2D and 3D shapes. We learn how to collect and represent data in different ways. We use all of our knowledge and mental and written strategies to apply them to problem solving. We have lots of practical resources to help us including bead strings, place value counters ad Numicon.
We value the support of our families and offer additional opportunities for involvement through our Mathematics Challenges.
Pupils... remember what they have learned and use this effectively when tackling new concepts. This is particularly true in mathematics, which is a strength in the school. (Ofsted March 2023).
