Welcome to Year 3 and Team Amber 2025/2026

Your teachers are Mrs Bollen and Mrs Bonner

Your teaching assistants are Miss Greatbatch, Mrs Angela and Mr Dakin

Well, it has been another busy week of learning for the Team.

In English lessons, we have spent the week discussing different topics that we would like to use for our persuasive writing. We re-read the story of Stella and the Seagull, looking in particular at the different styles of persuasive writing in the book, and how Stella used specific vocabulary to really engage the reader. We then decided as a class which topic we would focus on and planned our speeches individually. Next week, we will be drafting and editing our persuasive speeches.

In maths this week, we have been learning how to add two-digit numbers, using adjusting. As our skills developed, we then moved on to adding 3-digit numbers using adjusting. It was tricky at first but most of us soon got the hang of it.

In RE this week, we recapped learning on parables from the previous lesson. We then looked at another story from the life of Jesus – the story of Zacchaeus, and discussed how it has influenced the lives of Christians. We then went on to create a storyboard from the story of Zacchaeus, thinking about how this story would impact Christians even now.

In Science this week, we have been learning about the muscles in the body, how we use them and why we need them. We then labelled a diagram showing where the muscles are on our bodies.

In cornets this week, we have been learning new notes, focusing on high and low-pitched sounds. We were able to play notes together using a diagram showing high and low notes. We took turns to be a queen or king to guess the sequence of high and low notes that the class were playing.

That’s all for this week – make sure you practise your tables this weekend. They will help you a great deal in your maths tests.

Have a great weekend!
