What a busy week we have had in Team Topaz!

In Maths, we did some practice on division methods and learnt how to divide by a 2-digit number. We also found out how to calculate with negative numbers and used our new strategies to answer questions about them. In English, we wrote our very spooky gargoyle story, including conjunctions and the passive voice. Our spelling lesson was about homophones this week – words that sound the same but have different meanings and spellings!

In Science, we found out the meaning of the words: transparent, translucent and opaque. We found out how shadows are made and what types of material make the best shadows. We found that opaque objects make the best shadows as they block light, so creating a shadow behind them. We then created shadow puppets and created a shadow puppet show! In History, we began finding out about the key events in World War 2 and started work on preparing to share what we have found about the event we have chosen to share with the rest of the class. In PSHE, we found out how chocolate is made and that children in Ghana work on the cocoa plantations there which means they often don't go to school. In Computing, we discussed location sharing and when it can be a good idea and when it is a bad idea. In French, we continued work on French sports and found out how to say 'I play' and 'I do' different activities in French. In RE, we compared the 'Noble Eight-fold path' of Buddhism to the 'Ten Commandments' of Christianity.

Next week is PGL week! Those coming to school that week will be having lots of fun too. We will doing lots of creative activities that will keep you thinking but having fun too.

We hope you have a safe and happy weekend, and we look forward to seeing you on Monday if you are coming to school and if you are going to PGL, have an amazing time! We look forward to seeing you on Friday and hearing about everything you have got up to!
