The children have worked very hard again this week!

In maths this week, we have completed further problem-solving questions, including addition and subtraction problems, percentage-based problems, rounding-based problems and decimal-based problems. Within this, we have recapped what percentages are and how we round. In English, we have planned an advert for a new invention to fix a problem within groups. I was so impressed by the creativity shown! We then used the group plan to create our own poster adverts, which we presented to the class.

In PSHE, we learnt about the different relationships people can have and thought about what having a girlfriend or boyfriend may mean. We also completed a second lesson in PSHE where we learnt about how babies are made. The children were very mature in this lesson. In Computing, we learnt about different text formatting that we can use in Google Docs. In Science, we learnt about how humans change as they age. We worked with our learning partners to draw the different stages a human goes through and thought about what happens in each of these stages. In Geography, we learnt about mountainous climates and the risks around these for humans. We discussed why people may choose to visit mountains despite these risks. In French, we learnt about how to say what our different family members like/dislike.

Next week in maths, we will revise converting between the 12-hour and 24-hour clock, we will solve problems with units of measure and number and we will revise translation and reflection of shapes. In English, we will start our new poetry unit where we will explore different poems, perform some poems from our class book, learn about how figurative language can be used in poems before having a go at planning and writing our own poem.

Highlight of the Week

RE 14.07.26

This week in RE, we explored various artefacts that relate to Judaism. The children enjoyed this and discovering/revisiting what they all are.

Cornet Performance 07.07.26

The children did so well showcasing their learnging from our Cornett lessons. Well done Team!

Sports Day 03.07.26

The children did so amazingly well in Sports Day today! They also enjoyed the silent disco headphones. Well done to all!

Sports Activities 22.06.26

The children really impressed all the adults with trying new things in our circus skills and skateboarding workshops on Monday and they had a lot of fun!

Catapult challenge 17.06.26

The children did so amazingly well in the catapult challenge and had such fun doing it.

Geography 08.06.26

Today in Geography, we learnt about the features of a mountain and then used the atlases to find the heights of different mountains from across the world.

Art 05.06.26

The children produced another Kandinsky inspired piece of art using their chosen medium. What wonderful creations!

Curriculum week - Sustainability

Curriculum week - Drama day

The children had a fantastic time in their workshop with Miss Green wearing different emotions masks and showing these emotions through their body language. The children then used their learning from the workshop to act out a story for a journey to show different things that happen and their emotional responses.

Curriculum Week - Art day

The children had a lovely afternoon creating portraits inspired by Frida Kahlo.

In science this week, we learnt about why we have day and night.

We had a lovely art lesson where the children were recreating Kandinsky's concentric circles using 4 different mediums.

Computing 22.4.26

We had a lovely computing lesson where everyone got involved in designing the background for their own game.

DT 13.04.26

The children had fun finishing off decorating their Viking Houses.

English 24.03.26 & 25.03.26

This week the children did a fantastic job at performing the poems they wrote to inspire year 4 or year 6 children following learning about Karl Nova and his poetry. They used assonance really well and were very brave to perform in front of the class.

Everyone worked really hard in DT today to finish off their Viking Houses. Well done!

Science week 12.03.26

This week was science week and the children had a lot of fun completing their investigation to see if they could make a raft that floats. They then had a challenge to see which raft could hold the most multi-link cubes. They needed to use teamwork.

World Book Day 05.03.26

It was so lovely to see all the children's outfits on World Book Day. We had a very busy and fun day. We joined an online live 'books and football' based quiz, had our world book day assembly, designed our own book covers, completed some book reviews and had a lovely time at 'books and blankets'.

This week and during the last week of half-term the children cooked their vegetable muffins with Mrs Pyke. They all worked very hard and I do hope they enjoyed the finished product at home!

DT 10.02.26

The children enjoyed tasting some ingredients ahead of making their vegetable muffins. We thought about the smell and texture as well. It was lovely to see children trying some new things!

Art 06.02.2026

This afternoon, we created our final pieces inspired by Daniel Mackie. The children's work was so impressive!

Maths 26.01.2026

Today we learnt about using squares to estimate area and compared the area of one of our feet and one of our hands to see which had the greatest area. The children showed great determination with this!

Young Voices

We are incredibly proud of the members of our team and the rest of the school who attended the Young Voices this week. You all did so amazingly well!

PSHE 21.01.2026

In PSHE this week, we thought about the importance of different jobs and learnt about the salaries for these jobs. We did well at working together during our activities.

Science 14.01.2026

This week in science, we learnt about gravity and learnt about the difference between mass and weight. The children enjoyed weighing different items from the classroom using Newton Metres. Well done Team!

Art 09.01.2026

It has been a lovely week back finished by an art lesson where we were learning about our artist for the unit Daniel Mackie, thinking about his work and what we like about it and then comparing it to another artist's work.

Science lesson 16.12.25

In science, we learnt about irreversible changes. The children observed what happens when baking powder is added to vinegar and then saw that carbon dioxide is used as Miss Summers used the gas created as a fire extinguisher to put out some tea light flames.

Chiltern Air Museum 11.12.25

The children were absolutely fantastic on the trip. They enjoyed an archeology workshop in the morning and then a workshop on the life of an anglo-saxon in the afternoon. What an amazing day! Our Elf Edith even made her way with us.

Science 05.12.25

The children worked hard in science this afternoon, researching different scientists in order to learn about what they invented. We thought about the impact scientists have on the world.

Computing workshop 25.11.25

The children listened really well and worked really hard in our computing workshop today. They programmed a microbit and tested to see if their programming had worked.

Art 21.11.25

In art, we designed some Anglo-Saxon-inspired jewellery which we will make using embossing before the Christmas break. The children worked hard to think of different designs.

Science and Cool to be Kind Week - 10.11.25

In science, we investigated which material would insulate a container the best. We discussed how to make it a fair test and recorded our results over time. Whilst waiting for the results, we started off Cool to be Kind week by the children sharing 5 compliments with their learning partners. We talked about how good it feels when someone is kind. I am looking forward to seeing how the children continue to show kindness throughout the week.

History - 07.11.25

The children explored clues about an Anglo-Saxon Discovery - Sutton Hoo - to think about who may have been buried there.

Resilience workshop - 22.10.25

We had a resilience workshop today where we learnt about what resilience is and talked about strategies to help us to manage big emotions. One of the strategies we practised was finger breathing. The children listened and contributed really well.
