    Team Turquoise 2025/26.

Your class teachers are Mrs Vipond and Miss Smith.
Your teaching assistants are Mrs Buck and Mrs Rogers

What a busy week we have had in Team Turquoise!

In Maths, we revised how to tell the time on an analogue clock and how to convert into 24-hour clock. We have also learnt how to use an adapted form of column addition and subtraction that exchanges 60s rather than 10s and 100s to calculate with time.

In English, we read a book called 'We will remember them' about World War 1 and the poem 'Flanders Field'  by John McCrae. We then wrote a cinquain poem inspired by the book and the poem. We then wrote a rhyming remembrance poem focussing on lines with equal numbers of syllables.

In RE, we looked at pictures of objects that Buddhists use to worship and predicted what each object is and what we thought they might be used for. In Science, we began our Electricity topic and looked at circuit diagram symbols and how to draw an accurate circuit diagram. We also looked at faulty circuits and found ut how to fix them.

In History, we had an amazing trip to Bentley Priory which was the headquarters of the Battle of Britain campaign. We toured the museum and found out about the one, the few and the many. The one being Sir Hugh Dowding, the man in charge; the few who were the pilots and the many, who were the people at headquarters interpreting radar information to enable the RAF to intercept Luftwaffe attacks. We also became workers at the headquarters and interpreted messages and plotted the information on a map to help spot potential threats in the sky.

Next week in Maths, we are learning how to multiply and divide mixed numbers and fractions, the order of operations with BIDMAS and the properties of special numbers! In English, we are starting work on a new book, 'Wisp' and looking at the descriptive devices used.

We are also carrying on with all our other subjects across the curriculum.

Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.
