Well, it has been another busy week of learning for the Team.
In English we have spent the week, drafting and editing our persuasive speeches. We have been looking forward to sharing them with our peers today. It was good to learn how to give and receive positive feedback from each other.
In Maths this week, we have been learning to subtract a pair of 3-digit multiples of ten using difference. We then looked at evaluating the best strategy for subtraction. Next, we looked at explaining why the order of addition and subtractions steps can be chosen. We ended the week looking at multi-step word problems to solve.
In RE this week, we recapped the story of Zacchaeus, and discussed how it has influenced the life of Christians. We then discussed who influences us in our own lives. We drew a picture and wrote how and why that person/people influence us.
In History this week, we learnt about Claudius and why he wanted to invade Britain. We discussed the differences between Roman and Celtic armies and learnt how the Romans built new towns and cities.
In Science this week, we started the lesson by discussing what the difference is between vertebrates and invertebrates learning that vertebrates have a backbone (spine) and invertebrates don’t have a backbone. For example, a butterfly. We then discussed a further classification of skeletons including endoskeletons, exoskeletons and hydrostatic skeletons learning that endoskeletons are inside the body, exoskeletons are outside the body and hydrostatic skeletons are animals which don’t have any bones. We then worked in groups to sort pictures of animals which have an endoskeleton, exoskeleton and no skeleton at all. We then looked and discussed both pro’s and cons of each of the skeletons including what exoskeletons might protect them from and if it is easy to move with an exoskeleton?
In French this week, we continued our learning with counting to 12, we played a few games and are feeling more confident now! Keep practising at home!
That’s all for this week – as always make sure you practise your times tables over the weekend!
