This week in English, we began our learning on playscripts. We watched a clip from Alice in Wonderland and discussed how the characters use their voices and how Alice must have felt when she entered this strange world. We then created some of our own dream bubbles. We then wrote a short paragraph in the style of a diary entry, imagining ourselves as Alice. We had to detail some of the strangeness of the events and used some of the words from our working wall. Towards the end of the week, we looked at a playscript and identified the features, we then had a go at acting out the play of Alice in Wonderland in small groups.
In Maths this week, we began our learning on measures. We became familiar with how to use a metre stick and learnt that 1 metre is equal to 100 centimetres, 1 metre is equal to 100 groups of 1cm and 100 groups of 1cm are equal to 1 metre. Towards the end of the week, we had a go at measuring objects around the classroom, ensuring we were recording how many metres and cm each object was.
This week in Science, we learnt about ‘phototropism.’ We now understand what plants need to grow and most importantly, that they need light and warmth from the sun. We have now set up an experiment to understand how plants are directed towards the light in order to grow (phototropism). We wrote up our predictions and will be checking in on our experiment daily for the next couple of weeks.
In Computing this week, we began our new topic about Internet Safety. We learnt how important it is to have a safe password that is made up of a combination of letters and numbers and should not be anything that is of personal detail to us. We then learnt about what ‘blogging’ means. We had a go at writing our own blogs and sharing them with the class. This was lots of fun as our blogs became live throughout the lesson!
We were very excited this week to make a start on our Christmas Production songs, auditions have begun and song words and scripts will be coming home soon for everyone to practice! We can’t wait to get rehearsing!!
