Hi everyone,

We have had another busy week rehearsing for our Christmas play. We are really looking forward to the day when you come to watch us.

In between times, in English lessons, we have continued our learning of fables. This week we have been learning how to build up our vocabulary in order to write a character description. We based our description on the story of the ‘Koala who Could.’ Kevin the Koala was afraid to leave his tree, but he learnt a very valuable lesson about friendships, and how he should not let his fears prevent him from trying something new.

We also worked together to write fantastic setting descriptions. We are all really proud of our efforts. We have ended our week using drama to explore the character’s feelings, focusing on ‘Show not tell.’

Next week we are looking forward to using the ‘show not tell’ method in our writing, as we write about a fable using sentences with conjunctions.

In maths this week we have been learning how to estimate the position of 3-digit numbers on a number line. We then moved on to compare one, two and three-digit numbers.

We have ended the week writing three-digit numbers which are multiples of 10 as multiplication equations.

Next week we will be learning how to use known facts to add or subtract to/from multiples of 100 in tens.

In RE this week, we continued to look at Christians beliefs and practices by watching a video on how Christians worship and learning that singing is an important part of Church life to Christians, as they believe singing is a prayer. We then created a variety of questions, which we shared after watching and thinking about the video. We chose to discuss the questions ‘Does God listen to Christians when they are singing?’

We all agreed that God would enjoy listening to Christians, because he knew that they would be thinking about him and thanking him for all he does for us.

In Music, we rehearsed the songs that we are going to sing in our concert.

In Computing we completed a quiz all about Internet safety. It was really interesting, and we all agreed that we now feel that we can use the internet safely.
