It has been a busy week for Team Topaz!
This week in Maths we have had a statistics week! We have learnt how to interpret pictograms, bar charts, line charts and pie charts! In English, we have started work on a new book, 'Blackberry Blue' and have found out the features of fairytales and the language and vocabulary choices in them, including past perfect verb forms and the conjunctions for, yet and nor.
This week, we had lots of fun with Will learning how to create animal wire sculptures. We cut out the wire using a template and wire cutters. We then joined the pieces of the sculpture using pliers and then decorated them with tissue paper. We all made two models and will be covering the second with mod-roc.
In Science, we found out more about the animal kingdom and what a vertebrate is and what an invertebrate is. We then found the five different types of vertebrate and the seven different types of invertebrate. We found out the features of each and created a table to show what we had found. In PSHE, we discussed different issues that face people around the world and also how charities are organisations that can help people who are in crisis. We then created our own charity that would help people with an issue that concerns us. We created a poster to show all the information abut our charity. In Computing, we added something nobody knows about us on the Team Topaz 2026 class blog and started work on our own blog and in Music we improvised to the song, 'La Bamba'.
Next week in Maths, we will be learning how to interpret timetables and practising how to add and subtract units of time and in English, we will be carrying on our work on fairytales and preparing to write our own. We will also be carrying on with all of our other subjects and topics.
