Team Topaz 2025/26
Your Class teacher is Ms Reid
Your Teaching Assistants are Mrs Sides, Mrs Botha and Mrs Hajzeri
It has been a super busy week in Team Topaz!
In Maths, we have been revising 3D shapes and how many faces, edges and vertices there are on each as well as how to find the volume of cubes and cuboids. We have also been revising how to find factors of numbers and common factors of pairs of numbers, finding missing angles in shapes and how to find what fraction and percentage of a shape is shaded. In English, we have found out about perfect, progressive and subjunctive voices and how to use prefixes to make an antonym of a word. We have also been practising completing SATs papers for Maths, Reading and SPAG to get ready for SATs week in May.
In Science, we found out why fossils are so important in Science and found out that they can show us links between living things and how living things have changed over millions of years, for example, how horses used to be the size of small dogs! In PSHE, we listened to and acted out a story of how a boy gets exploited by a gang to carry drugs. We discussed what we would do if we knew of this happening to someone we know – tell someone! We also then discussed different reasons why people join gangs and how people can be helped to make better decisions. In RE, we started work the Easter story and in DT, we started work designing a rainforest cushion and creating a template for our design.
Next week in Maths, we will be revising prime numbers and fractions, decimals and percentages, and in English, we will be revising all the different words classes we need to know for our SPAG test! We will also be carrying on with other subjects across the curriculum.
Year 6 PE Days are Monday and Thursday
