What a busy week we have had in Team Topaz!

In Maths, we have found out how to calculate the range, mode, median and mean of a set of data and also found out that when asked to estimate the answer to a complex calculation, we are being asked to round the numbers first! We also practised how to subtract fractions and mixed numbers.

In English, we carried on our work on our book, we wrote a non-chronolgical report about the imaginary planet, Pandora. We tried to include lots of the Year 6 criteria including the passive voice, parenthesis, colons and semi-colons. We did such a good job that we then wrote them up ready for display.

In Science, we found out how the human eye works and found out that an optical illusion is when the eye and the brain can't decide what they are looking at and trick us into seeing things that are not there! In History we looked at artefacts from World War 2 and discussed what they were and what they told us about life during World War 2. We even got to hold a Victoria Cross medal! In PSHE, we thought about the obstacles that can sometimes prevent us from achieving our goals and what we could do to remove these obstacles. In Computing we used our screen time database to generate charts about how much time we spend in front of a screen and in French we wrote a diary entry about what sports we did on each day.

Next week in Maths, we will be learning how to convert between fractions, decimals and percentages and learning efficient strategies to find fractions and percentages of amounts. In English, we will be writing a balanced argument about the use of mobile phones in schools as well as carrying on with all our other curriculum subjects.

Year 6 PE Days are Monday and Thursday

Please come to school in PE kit on these days
