Another super busy week in Team Topaz!
This week, we have all finished our cushions! We are very proud of them and worked hard to carefully stitch each piece of our design to the front using running stitch. To join the front and back covers, we used over stitch, remembering to fill it with stuffing first!
We have also finished our graffiti art! We chose our favourite piece of work from this unit, carefully cut out our designs and then stick them onto a brick wall – a paper wall! These selected pieces of work will be framed and displayed in the up-coming Hobletts art gallery.
In Science, we have learnt about the digestive system and how it processes food to enable the body to extract the nutrients it needs and how it gets rid of the toxins that it does not need. We found out about each stage of the process and the parts of the body involved, including the oesophagus, the gall bladder and the large and small intestine.
We have also continued on with our DT fajitas topic and found out about seasonality and what foods are available in which months of the year. In RE, we found out how different religions use dance to show what they believe and had a go at creating our own dance and in PSHE, we found out how what happens to our bodies during puberty.
Next week in Maths, we are going to be investigating spirals, finding out what they are, where they occur in real-life and in nature! It is also sports week next week and we will be taking part in lots of different sports and activities. The week will end with Sports day!
We will also be carrying on with rehearsals for the end-of-year play, 'The Next Big Step'.
The performances will be on:
Tuesday 14th July at 1.30pm
and
Wednesday 15th July at 6pm
Year 6 PE Days are Monday and Thursday
Please come to school in PE kit on these days
