    Team Topaz 2025/26

Your Class teacher is Ms Reid

Your Teaching Assistants are Mrs Sides, Mrs Botha and Mrs Hajzeri

It has been a super busy week in Team Topaz!

We had an amazing trip to London Zoo as part of our Living Things topic in Science and our Rainforest topic in Geography. We got to see lots of animals, some of them very up-close. Check out the lion pictures below! We also visited the rainforest centre, which recreates a rainforest environment and saw a sloth and monkeys in the trees.

In Maths, we have been revising how to answer questions on money and our revision poster has been about quadrilaterals. We have also been revising estimating the answer to complicated questions by rounding and how to find percentages of numbers. In English, we have been writing more of our Mr Hall biography and have been learning about the grammar we need for the SPAG test including active and passive voice and what subject and object are in a sentence.

In Science, we found out that when fossils were found in Victorian times, this was when the world found out about dinosaurs. We also found out about Mary Anning, who found lots of fossils of dinosaurs at the beach at Lyme Regis in Dorset. We also found out how fossils can be formed when animals are frozen, when they get stuck in tree sap or through the 'mold and cast' process. As part of Science Week, we also completed a team-work investigation where we found out that good communication is essential to complete a project. We drew pictures with our team mates all holding onto the same pencil with pegs! In Computing, we started work on our own adventure story and created buttons that allows the reader to choose their own version of the story and in RE, we recreated significant stories from the life of Jesus.

Next week in Maths, we will be revising time questions and our revision poster will be about 3D shapes. In English, we will be finishing our Mr Hall biography and continuing to revise word classes and sentence structures for the upcoming SPAG test.
