It has been a super week in Team Topaz!

This is what we have planned for next week ...

In Maths, we will be practising strategies for multiplying whole numbers and decimals by ten, hundred and a thousand. We will then be using these strategies to convert between metric measures of distance, mass and volume. We will then apply these strategies to calculate with measures, converting between units when necessary.

In English, we are going to be writing a balanced argument about a current and controversial topic, whether children should be allowed to have mobile phones in school! We will be looking at different sentence structures and appropriate vocabulary and sentence openers.

In Science, we will be investigating the best materials to block light and the meaning of the scientific vocabulary: opaque, transparent and translucent. We will find out how shadows are made and will be making shadow puppets! In PSHE, we will be thinking about what we want to achieve in school and what obstacles might get in the way of us achieving it. We will then think about how we can remove these obstacles so we can be successful. In RE, we will be exploring how Buddhists use the Eight-fold path to live their lives.

wc 14.09.26: RE - this week, we compared the ten commandments of Christianity to the Buddhist Noble Eightfold Path.

wc 14.9.26: This week in Science, we investigated which materials blocked light the best. We used dataloggers to measure in Lux how much light got through!

wc 7.9.26: Art - this week we have been looking at London landmarks and the architects who designed them.

wc 7.9.26: History - last week we made timelines of key events in the History of London and this week we labelled maps to show which countries were part of the Allies, Axis, Neutral or Occupied countries during World War 2.
